The U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council will host a working lunch honoring a delegation of senior members of the Sharjah Government, supported by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq). The Shurooq delegation — led by His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Corporation — will be in Washington, D.C. to kick off their USA Roadshow and to meet with key government and private sector leaders in Washington, before traveling to New York for additional meetings with government and business leaders (more information below). The luncheon will feature a discussion between key officials driving economic development and investment in the northern emirate of Sharjah. The event will also serve to introduce commercial partnership and investment opportunities in Sharjah for American and international companies to the broader U.S.-U.A.E. business community. About the Sharjah USA Roadshow:

The Sharjah: Promising Opportunities, Global Horizons, USA Road Show, Business and B2B Forum, will be held in Washington, DC and New York City. This event is by-invitation-only, and will comprise a brief information seminar followed by B2B meetings with senior government officials and business executives from Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. About the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq):

Established in 2009 by Emiri Decree issued by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, Shurooq was created to oversee social, cultural, environmental and economic development on the basis of Sharjah’s distinct Arab and Islamic identity.

Shurooq’s three key duties are:

Investment:

Shurooq identifies investment opportunities throughout Sharjah, links various projects with suitable investors, offers professional and economic consultancies and provides potential investors with accurate investment evaluations and feasibility studies.

Development:

Shurooq is planning and developing a number of heritage and waterfront, as well as commercial, projects. The authority has started carrying out some of these, obtained the necessary approvals for others, and has completed the final master plans of yet to be announced projects.

Assets and Properties Management:

Shurooq is looking to establish lasting, profitable and sustainable partnerships. We currently manage a number of assets within our portfolio andcan manage future joint venture assets to keep the projects aligned with thecollective investment goals.
