Emirates’ new passenger route between Dubai and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport has officially opened! The airline is further expanding into the U.S. market with its 11th route in the U.S. and second in Florida. This route will serve all of the South Florida area including Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and West Palm Beach. Starting today, Emirates non-stop service between Dubai and Fort Lauderdale will operate a Boeing 777-200LR aircraft with GE powered engines on a once-a-day round-trip flight.

After the success of Emirates’ non-stop Dubai-Orlando service launched last year, Fort Lauderdale was the clearest choice for Emirates’ continued expansion into the U.S. market, said Emirates President Tim Clark. According to an Emirates press release, passengers will not only be able to travel round trip to Dubai, but will also have access to over 26 U.S. destinations and over 19 Caribbean and Latin American destinations through its codeshare partnership with JetBlue Airways.

Mark Gale, Director of Aviation at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, said, “the new Emirates flight will contribute $105 million in new economic activity in the Fort Lauderdale area.” In 2013, Emirates made the single largest aircraft order by value in the history of U.S. commercial aviation with its order of 150 Boeing 777x aircraft. This order continues to support over 400,000 American jobs. In addition to aircraft and engine orders, Emirates’ U.S. operations contribute over $2.9 billion of economic value each year.

The Emirates EK213 non-stop daily service will depart Dubai at 3:00am and land in Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) at 10:25am. The return flight, EK214, will depart FLL at 8:20pm, arriving in DXB at 7:40pm the following day, with a total flight time of 14 hours and 20 minutes.
