It is in the national and economic security interests of the United States to continue strengthening the U.S.-U.A.E. defense relationship. The Business Council will work to highlight and discuss various foreign disclosure release issues and will advocate on behalf of industry for the release and sale to the U.A.E. of next generation aircraft, air and defense missile systems; as well as cutting edge ISR and intelligence capabilities. The Business Council partnered with the U.S. National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) to lead a defense trade mission to the U.A.E. on October 2nd-7th 2010, designed to introduce new opportunities for cooperation to small and medium sized (SMEs) American companies in the defense sector. In September of 2011, the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council led a second defense trade mission to the U.A.E., hosted by the Offset Program Bureau (OPB), to deliver high-level access to Emirati decision-makers for SMEs looking to establish a foothold in the flourishing U.A.E. commercial defense sector. The Council will continue to advocate on behalf of the advancement of U.S. and U.A.E. business in the defense and aerospace sector as the sector grows and opportunities for commercial partnership present themselves.
