Latest Figures Detail Increase in Overall U.S.-U.A.E. Trade for 2016

The United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) remains the United States’ top export destination for the entire Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region for the eighth year in a row, according to the Census Bureau’s Foreign Trade Division at the U.S. Department of Commerce.

  • The U.S. and the U.A.E. conducted$25.73 billion in total trade in 2016—an increase of $265 million (1.04%)  from 2015.
  • TotalU.S. exports to the U.A.E. reached $22.38 billion—$622 million (2.69%) less than in 2015.
  • Total 2016 U.A.E. exports to the U.S. approached $3.36 billion—an increase of$888 million (36.03%)  since 2015.

The highest month for U.S. exports to the U.A.E. last year was July 2016 at $2.18 billion, which was 8.83% higher than July 2015.

The value of 2016 U.S. exports  to the U.A.E. continued to exceed outgoing American products to other key regional trade partners last year, including: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ($18.02 billion), India ($21.69 billion), Israel ($13.20 billion), Turkey ($9.38 billion), and Egypt ($3.51 billion).
