Washington, D.C. — More than a dozen American companies representing the U.S. commercial healthcare and pharmaceuticals sectors will arrive in Dubai on Sunday, January 23rd to launch the “U.S. Commercial Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, Life Sciences, and Technology Trade Mission to the U.A.E.,” led by the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council in partnership with the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA).

The trade mission will take place alongside Arab Health, the Middle East’s largest healthcare trade show, and will feature briefings with political authorities and local healthcare experts from the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.).  The mission’s program will focus on the development of the U.A.E.’s healthcare system, highlight opportunities for potential commercial partnerships between U.S. and Emirati companies, and educate U.S. companies about the U.A.E.’s economic and regulatory environment.

“The U.A.E. has identified development of its healthcare sector as a strategic priority and U.S. commercial healthcare and pharmaceutical companies are well suited to partner and add real value in this dynamic, growing market,” said Danny Sebright, President of the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council. “U.S. companies are well-known in the U.A.E., and in the broader region, for their expertise in the areas of pharmaceutical development, medical and technical innovation, and medical research.”

“PHRMA and its members are very impressed with the U.A.E. Government’s commitment to the protection of  intellectual property rights and strong support for medical innovation and believe a wealth of opportunities await U.S. companies in the U.A.E. market,” said Jonathan Kimball, PhRMA’s Associate Vice President for Europe and the Middle East.

In addition to attending the Arab Health exhibition in Dubai, U.S. delegates will receive briefings from commercial and political authorities in the U.A.E.’s healthcare and economic development sectors, conduct site visits to strategic healthcare facilities and free zones in the Emirates, and develop a well-rounded understanding of the current healthcare landscape in the U.A.E.

Delegates will also receive briefings and conduct tours of key healthcare facilities in Ras Al Khaimah and Abu Dhabi, marking five days of substantive briefings and networking opportunities with government officials and industry experts from throughout the U.A.E.

The mission is certified by the Commercial Service of the U.S. Department of Commerce and is supported by the U.A.E. Embassy Trade and Commercial Office in Washington, D.C.
