U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council Hosts U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke

Sec. LockeThe U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council hosted U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke and senior U.S. & U.A.E. experts Friday in an event that attracted over 180 executives & policy professionals to discuss the potential billions of dollars of business opportunities of the U.S.-U.A.E. Civil Nuclear Energy Agreement currently before Congress.  The event also marked the Business Council’s launch of a trade mission to the U.A.E. to explore American business interests in the U.A.E. civilian nuclear energy sector.

“Not only does Congress have the opportunity to advance America’s long-term interests in the Middle East, this agreement could put Americans to work right now,” said Danny Sebright, President of the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council. “American companies could compete for these contracts, which will create thousands of high-paying jobs here in the U.S.”

Conducted in partnership with the Nuclear Energy Institute, the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council’s new trade mission will travel to the U.A.E. December 13th and include two days of meetings with potential private and public sector partners.  The goals of the trade mission are to expand relationships with U.A.E. civilian nuclear energy suppliers and assess market opportunities in commercial nuclear technologies, including reactors, fuel, components and services.  The grand kick-off event attracted TV crews, reporters, and government officials from around the city.
