New U.S. Commercial Service Team Introduces Fall Agenda

The U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council kicked off its fall “Back to Business” webinar series today, 9 September, with a virtual roundtable event during which the U.S. Commercial Service teams at the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi and U.S. Consulate in Dubai introduced new personnel and previewed key upcoming initiatives. During this webinar, Thomas Bruns, Regional Senior Commercial Officer for the Gulf at the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi, and Erick Kish, the new Deputy Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi, outlined how they and their colleagues help U.S. businesses achieve their commercial objectives in the U.A.E. and the wider region. They also reviewed key events, activities, and initiatives on their agenda for the remainder of 2020 and into 2021, including a 14 September Discover America event on Expo 2020 Dubai and a 7-9 October Discover Global Markets event.

As part of the virtual event, each member of the U.S. Commercial Service team at the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi and U.S. Consulate in Dubai, as well as other key Department of Commerce personnel, gave an overview of their roles and responsibilities as well as important issues within their portfolios, ranging from data privacy to IP protection. The webinar concluded with a question and answer session during which Business Council members clarified how the U.S. mission might collaborate with, and support, the U.S. business community.
