U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council Hosts Emirates Competitiveness Council (ECC)

The Emirates Competitiveness Council (E.C.C.), led by H.E. Secretary General Abdullah Nasser Lootah, today met with senior business leaders and US government officials at a briefing hosted by the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council.  During the meeting, which was held at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C., Secretary General Lootah discussed the (From Left to Right: Danny Sebright, President US-UAE BC, Secretary General Abdullah Nasser Lootah, and Saud al Nowais, U.A.E. E.C.C.’s role to enhance the U.A.E.’s competitiveness, boost economic policymaking, and act as a vehicle for public-private sector partnerships.

H.E. Lootah explained, “The E.C.C. is tasked with developing the competitiveness strategy for the U.A.E., proposing policies and initiatives to enhance competitiveness of all major sectors, publishing regular reports to assess national competitiveness, and enhancing dialogue between the government and the private sector.”

The E.C.C. delegation was visiting Washington, D.C. to meet with policymakers and business leaders.  Earlier in the week, the E.C.C. signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the U.S. Competitiveness Council, which outlined areas of future bilateral cooperation and a commitment to information sharing.

Commenting on the E.C.C.’s visit, U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council President, Danny E. Sebright, said, “today’s meeting is part of the Council’s sustained effort to support the already strong and robust ties between leading American and Emirati corporations and to continue advance the commercial relationship between our nations.

The Commercial Attaché at the U.A.E. Embassy in Washington, D.C., Saud Al Nowais, kicked-off the event, discussing the growing institutionalization of U.S.-U.A.E. business ties as reflected in the signing of the U.S.-U.A.E. Peaceful Civilian Nuclear Energy Agreement and the MOU between the Competitiveness Council and the Emirates Competitiveness Council.
