Emirates Airline, one of the United Arab Emirates’ flagship global carriers, launched service to its 8th non-stop destination in the United States on Monday, March 10th. Emirates’ daily non-stop flights between Dubai International Airport and Boston Logan International Airports are positioned to amplify already strong U.S.-U.A.E. commercial aviation ties as well as create new opportunities to build business, cultural, and educational bridges between communities. For Emirates Airline, Boston is a global city that offers additional, important opportunities to serve as a key connector between Dubai and markets throughout the U.S.

More broadly, commercial aviation is a key pillar supporting a record-breaking $26.9 billion trade relationship between the U.S. and U.A.E. in 2013. The Dubai Airshow last fall saw significant new orders of Boeing aircraft and GE engine orders placed by Emirates Airline and Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways. In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce, Emirates Group’s order of 150 Boeing 777Xs valued at $55.6 billion for Emirates Airline and 86 Boeing 737s valued at $8.8 billion by FlyDubai, made it the largest ever aircraft order in civil aviation history.

Emirates celebrated their new flight path to Boston with a kickoff gala celebration Tuesday evening at the historic Wang Theater in downtown Boston. Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, welcomed guests and praised the newest addition to Emirates’ globe-spanning network. “As I’ve said before, great cities require great airports, which require great airlines. In Boston, you have a great city. In Logan International, you have a great airport. I feel confident that we can show you that in Emirates, you now have a great airline,” remarked Clark.

Following his remarks, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick addressed guests, noting Boston’s remarkable weathering of the economic crisis of the past five years, specifically singling out its achievement in establishing itself as a global hub for education, innovation, and commerce. “Emirates’ new Boston service will help the Commonwealth facilitate commerce and trade, allowing Massachusetts to be a strong force and have more access to a global market,” said Governor Patrick.

Emirates will further increase its network in the U.S. when the airline starts a daily service to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport in August.

Emirates began passenger services to America in 2004 with the launch of daily non-stop flights from New York JFK to Dubai, and now offers daily flights to Washington, Houston, Dallas, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
