Government officials and business leaders from the Emirate of Sharjah highlighted attractive investment opportunities and generous incentive packages available to American companies in a U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council webinar on September 15th 2020. A video of this event can be found here.
During this videoconference, which was part of the Business Council’s “Back to Business” webinar series, H.E. Abdalla Shaheen, U.A.E. Consul General in New York and a Sharjah native, began by underscoring the importance of the growing relationship between Sharjah and American businesses, noting, for instance, the monumental investments by Sharjah-based Gulftainer in the United States. Moreover, Consul General Shaheen highlighted both the Emirate and the U.A.E.’s eagerness to further bolster bilateral economic ties with the United States.
H.E. Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, Executive Chairman of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq); H.E. Mohamed Juma Al Musharrkh, CEO of Invest in Sharjah; and H.E. Hussain Mohamed Al Mahmoudi, CEO of Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation (SRTI) Park subsequently reviewed the strengths of Sharjah as a business destination and the opportunities for American companies to establish operations or invest in the Emirate. Their Excellencies also discussed the measures Sharjah has taken to jumpstart the economy in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The panelists provided insights on key incentive packages, stimulus measures, and other initiatives Sharjah has implemented in various business verticals and ways for American companies to engage. Their Excellencies highlighted as well Sharjah’s eagerness to attract investment and collaborate with U.S. companies active in technology, life sciences, education, food security, and infrastructure in particular. Moreover, the speakers also reviewed key events, activities, and initiatives on their agenda in the coming months including the Sharjah FDI Forum taking place in 2021.
Following their remarks, the speakers heard questions from executives of member companies in a question & answer session moderated by Mr. Danny Sebright, President of the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council.
