Mubadala Continues to Ramp Up Investment in U.S. Tech, Energy, and Healthcare

The U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council hosted a private dinner conversation with Chief Communications Officer at Mubadala Brian Lott on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025 at Cafe Milano in Washington, D.C. Mr. Lott is in Washington, D.C. for the Mubadala Citi D.C. Open Tennis Tournament – the third year that Mubadala has been the lead sponsor of the local tournament. The conversation also included senior representatives from G42 and MGX who were in Washington, D.C. for the announcement of America’s AI Action Plan and lent their perspectives on ongoing AI and technology investments into the U.S.

Mr. Lott provided insights into Mubadala’s evolving U.S. strategy, which spans AI and advanced technologies, energy, infrastructure, and life sciences, among other sectors. He also highlighted the impact of His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit to the U.S. from March 18-24, 2025 and President Trump’s recent visit to the U.A.E. from May 15-16, 2025, which catalyzed the announcement of new bilateral initiatives including the U.S.-U.A.E. AI Acceleration Partnership and the Stargate U.A.E. AI data center campus in Abu Dhabi. Mr. Lott also commented on senior engagements with the U.S. administration at last week’s Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit, hosted by Senator Dave McCormick. 

Highlights of the conversation included:

  • Mubadala’s more than $100 billion investment in the United States to date, and how this figure will grow in light of the U.A.E.’s $1.4 trillion 10-year investment plan for the United States.
  • The U.S.’s investment climate as the best globally, fueled by unparalleled opportunities in cutting-edge sectors such as artificial intelligence and energy.
  • The impact of the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Roundtable during President Trump’s visit to the U.A.E., highlighting existing and emerging partnerships and investments between the U.S. and U.A.E.
  • Reflections on U.S. policy developments, particularly the ongoing changes to the CFIUS process, and how this is shaping investment decision-making.
  • Mubadala’s participation in major AI and deep tech ventures in the U.S., including early-stage investments and new infrastructure like Stargate.
  • Recent energy partnerships such as Mubadala Energy’s investment in SoTex HoldCo, and new areas of collaboration in the energy sector.
  • Mubadala’s focus on life sciences as a third pillar of bilateral engagement, with opportunities in healthcare innovation, biotech, and advanced manufacturing.

Senior executives from U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council member companies also discussed and highlighted impactful new U.S.-U.A.E. partnerships emerging across AI, energy, and infrastructure. 

  • G42’s ongoing partnerships and investments with U.S. companies, including with G42’s Omics Center of Excellence, the home of the Emirati Genome Program.
  • MGX’s involvement as an anchor investor in Project Stargate in the U.S. with SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle.
  • ADNOC’s, via its international arm XRG, acquisition of a 35% stake in Exxon’s proposed low‑carbon hydrogen and ammonia facility in Baytown, Texas, and the expansion of production at Abu Dhabi’s offshore Upper Zakum oil field as part of a broader $60 billion U.S.–U.A.E. energy initiative.
  • GE Vernova’s and ENEC’s recent MoU to jointly evaluate the deployment of the BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology internationally.
  • Dubai RTA’s selection of Parsons as the project management consultant for the Dubai Metro Blue Line, a major milestone in the city’s D33 Economic Agenda.
