U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council Supported Event: American Conference Institute’s Advanced Summit on Complying with Nuclear Controls

U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council President Danny Sebright spoke November 30th at the American Conference Institute’s Advanced Summit on Complying with Nuclear Controls at the Westin Hotel located at 1400 M Street NW, Washington, DC.

Sebright discussed civilian nuclear business opportunities in the U.A.E. in the wake of the Peaceful Civilian Nuclear 123 Agreement between the U.S. and the U.A.E. at the conference’s opening session.  U.S.-India Business Council President Ron Somers also spoke on the panel, along with Carter Lawson, Deputy General Counsel of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, and Tom White, Assistant General Counsel of the Westinghouse Electric Company.

The panelists spoke about the nuclear regulatory framework currently in place in the United Arab Emirates, India, China, and in countries in the process of developing civilian nuclear programs and answered questions pertaining to the future of the programs in the respective countries.

Developed specifically to provide guidance to export controls and trade compliance officers and legal counsel on how to navigate the complex set of regulations that govern the export of nuclear items, services and technology, American Conference Institute’s Advanced Summit on Complying with Nuclear Export Controls provided practical solutions for confronting challenges in this sphere.

The conference featured participation by the key U.S. government agencies with regulatory authority in this area, including the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Department of Energy and the Department of Commerce.
