Denver receives Dubai Investment Development Delegates to discuss American business opportunities in Dubai

The Denver Metro Chamber, the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates Trade and Commercial Office, and the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council welcomed a visiting delegation from the Dubai Investment Development Agency (Dubai FDI) onMonday, March 21st in Denver, Colorado.  Fahad Al Gergawi, CEO of Dubai FDI, began Monday’s discussion by highlighting the many opportunities and benefits available to Denver-area-based organizations interested in learning more about setting up a business in Dubai, U.A.E.  Some of the sectors discussed by the delegation included energy and clean technology, life sciences and healthcare, logistics and trade, agriculture, financial services, advanced manufacturing and aerospace.

 “Our objective is to present the new thrust areas of Dubai’s economic development strategy to U.S. businesses and highlight the potential for enhanced bilateral trade and investment,” said Fahad Al Gergawi, CEO, Dubai FDI. “The United States remains number one among major FDI source markets for Dubai and the scope of our partnership has expanded significantly in recent years. Our focus remains on integrating knowledge as the chief economic driver, on embracing technology and innovation, on positioning Dubai as the meeting place for the world.”

Eng. Saad Al Awadi, CEO of Dubai Exports, highlighted Dubai’s best in class manufacturing, logistics, and transport infrastructure.  “When in Dubai you are ideally placed to connect markets within the Middle East, North Africa and the Indian Subcontinent faster than anyone else, by land, sea or air. The free zones and industry clusters in the emirate offer the best international practices in competitive export processing and logistics,” said Saad Al Awadi, CEO, Dubai Exports.

As Dubai FDI continues its roadshow across multiple U.S. cities, it has sought to establish new ties with U.S. businesses looking to expand and deliver their products and services to new and emerging markets in Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East.  “Dubai South is honored to be part of this special mission of the Government of Dubai, and looks forward to share its best investment opportunities,” remarked Ahmed Al Ansari, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Dubai South. “Dubai South, the 145 sq km urban city development emerging in the emirate of Dubai, is fast becoming a leading global hub for aviation, logistics and commerce. Other members of the delegation comprised senior executives from Tecom Group, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and Emirates Airline.

The Dubai FDI delegation met with Denver Mayor, Michael B. Hancock, as well as Kim Day, CEO of Denver International Airport.  Delegation members also toured ‘Galvanize’ – one of Colorado’s innovative community initiatives on renewable energy.

Dubai Investment Development Agency, with the support of the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council, will complete its U.S. tour in San Francisco this week.
