Matthew Gardell joined the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council as a Senior Director in July, 2023. He is responsible for the Business Council’s programming related to energy, advanced manufacturing, logistics, professional services, and agricultural technology.
Previously, Matthew worked at Dentons US LLP in the Firm’s Intelligence and Strategic Services unit. As part of this role, he wrote client reports providing analysis of U.S. policy and regional developments related to the Middle East. Additionally, he was a writer for the Firm’s global business and geopolitical risk publication where he focused on energy, technology, and climate issues. Prior to that, he worked for Dubai-based Orient News’ Washington, D.C. bureau where he supported the production of international political news programming.
Matthew holds a Master of Arts in Near and Middle Eastern studies from SOAS, University of London. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from George Washington University. Matthew is originally from New York and is an avid golfer.
