Leadership from U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council members featured prominently in the first-ever ranking of the Forbes Top 50 Healthcare Leaders in the MENA region. Shaista Asif from ADQ subsidiary Pure Health, Alaa Adel from Cerner, Ehab Zawaideh from GE Healthcare, Ashraf Malek from Merck, Hasan Jasem Al Nowais from Mubadala Health, Patrick Van Der Loo from Pfizer, and Ayman Mokhtar from Viatris all made the list. Forbes released their first ranking of the “Middle East’s Top 50 Healthcare Leaders”, recognizing senior executives from healthcare organizations that are shaping the lives of millions of people during one of the most difficult times hitting the world with the coronavirus.

According to Forbes, the U.A.E. dominates the list with 25 of the 50 firms of finalists. This accomplishment is followed by 13 leaders from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, six from Egypt, two from Qatar, one from Kuwait, one from Algeria, one from Jordan, and one from Morocco.

Becoming a global hub of medical innovation will continue to be an important objective of the U.A.E. in the coming years as well as an important area of bilateral cooperation between the U.S. and U.A.E. The U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council has published landmark reports on the U.A.E.’s healthcare sector, organized a trade mission for U.S. medical technology businesses to cultivate partnerships, and convened high-level roundtables with U.A.E. healthcare leadership to interact with leading U.S. companies.

The U.A.E. has played an outsized leadership role before, during, and after the Covid-19 Pandemic.  By partnering with the Gates Foundation to eradicate Smallpox and other communicable diseases, to working closely with international pharma companies to deploy COVID-19 vaccines, to focusing research and development efforts along with some of the world’s leading health care institutions on some of the most critical health care challenges in the Middle East region, the U.A.E. is fully engaged to creating better health outcomes for everyone.

The U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council congratulates our members for continuously being the pioneers in their sectors and in leading the way for a sustainable future of innovation in healthcare.
