Dubai Airshow 2013: A landmark 24 hours of deals supporting U.S.-U.A.E. commercial & trade relations

The U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council is pleased to direct your attention to the opening deals announced at the Dubai Airshow that will directly support U.S.-U.A.E. commerce and help to create American and Emirati jobs for years to come.  Landmark Boeing commercial aircraft orders totaling over $100 billion from Emirates Airline, Etihad Airways, and low-cost carrier flydubai – many supplied with General Electric engines – stole the headlines from the Dubai Airshow’s first day.  For your information, below is a summary of the major U.S.-U.A.E. deals with links to original press statements.  The U.S.-U.A.E. Boeing

Emirates Airline announced an order for 150 Boeing 777X – 35 Boeing 777-8Xs and 115 Boeing 777-9Xs – on Sunday; a commitment of $55.6 billion.  Fore more information, click HERE.

Etihad Airways announced a commitment for 30 787-10 Dreamliners, 25 777X – 17 777-9Xs and 8 777-8Xs – and a 777 Freighter; a commitment of $16.7 billion.

– Dubai’s low-cost carrier, flydubai, announced a commitment for 75 737 MAX aircraft and 11 737s; totaling $8.8 billion.

Boeing & Mubadala announced a deal on Monday that will increase the long-term role of Mubadala as a Tier 1 supplier – supporting Boeing commercial programs, including the 787 and 777X , with up to $2.5 billion in advanced composites and machined metals.

Boeing & Tawazun Precision Industries announced a partnership on Monday to develop and launch an aerospace surface treatment facility in Abu Dhabi by 2016.

GE

Emirates Airline‘s landmark 777X order boosted GE‘s sales on the first day of Dubai Airshow 2013 with the largest single order from a commercial airline for the company – ordering GE9X engines worth more than $11 billion.

Etihad Airways announced the selection of GE engines to fuel its order Boeing wide-body aircraft- including  a commitment for 25 GE9X-powered Boeing 777X, 30 GEnx-1B-powered Boeing 787-10, and one GE90-115B-powered Boeing 777-200LR aircraft valued at more than $3 billion.  For more information, click HERE.

flydubai announced its intent to purchase up to 200 GE LEAP-1B engines and 22 CFM56-7BE engines for 111 Boeing new aircraft ordered on Sunday.

Lockheed Martin 

Lockheed Martin and Bayanat Airports Engineering & Supplies LLC (BAES) announced the successful installment of the region’s first Windtracer® “lidar” system at Dubai Airport.  The program surveils turbulence from incoming and outbound aircraft – with the second and third liar units currently being installed.
