“On the road to the future, we will walk together.” – Joshua Burke, incoming Principal Commercial Officer at the U.S. Consulate – Dubai.

The U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council hosted a luncheon discussion for its member on December 16, 2025, at Akin Gump’s offices in Washington, D.C. with Joshua Burke, incoming Principal Commercial Officer at the U.S. Consulate – Dubai. The discussion provided Mr. Burke with an opportunity to learn firsthand from U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council members about the opportunities, trends, and challenges in the U.S.-U.A.E. commercial, trade, and investment relationship. Mr. Burke encouraged guests to use the U.S. Commercial Service as a resource as he prepares to relocate to the U.A.E. early next year.

Guests highlighted:

  • The deployment and development of AI and other powerful new U.S. technologies in the U.A.E., such as GM’s Super Cruise, Oracle’s Stargate, and Google’s Gemini, that will revolutionize the ways in which we live and work together.

  • The deepening of the relationship between American and Emirati healthcare institutions to encompass best-in-class healthcare, patient services, and medical research.

  • New opportunities for public-private partnerships between U.S. companies and U.A.E. entities in infrastructure and growing defense ties that bring experience, innovation, and technology from the U.S. to the U.A.E. and beyond.

  • Opportunities for strengthening cooperation in the vertical of financial services and asset management.

  • Educational and training initiatives at higher education institutions such as Georgetown University in Dubai and New York University Abu Dhabi that work hand-in-hand with companies to address Emiratization and prepare students with the skills for the workplace of the future.

Guests included U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council members representing a wide array of verticals important to the trade and investment relationship.
