
The U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council, in partnership with Stryker, hosted a strategic roundtable discussion to welcome Kevin Lobo, Chair and CEO of Stryker, on Thursday, September 11th, 2025, at Stryker’s Innovation Center in DIFC, Dubai. Attendees to the strategic roundtable included officials from the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, M42, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD), Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), Al Tamimi, and representatives from the U.S. Consulate in Dubai and U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
During the strategic roundtable titled “Innovating Healthcare Together: Advancing Collaboration Across Borders,” Mr. Lobo engaged with government officials and private sector executives in the U.A.E. healthcare and life sciences ecosystem about the U.A.E.’s priorities, Stryker’s globalization strategy in the U.A.E., and new avenues of bilateral collaboration. Highlights of the conversation included:
- How the U.A.E. is establishing itself as a global hub for healthcare and life sciences through innovation in pre- and post-clinical trials, precision medicine, manufacturing, preventative care, and research and development.
- Integration of advanced technology, such as robotics and 3D modeling, for data evaluation in clinical trials, and AI integration to ease the burden of hospital administrative duties.
- The launch of the $25.5 billion Health, Endurance, Longevity, and Medicine (HELM) Cluster in Abu Dhabi is a government-backed healthcare and life sciences hub aimed at boosting pharmaceutical manufacturing, developing an AI-driven life sciences ecosystem, and attracting leading global healthcare companies.
- Abu Dhabi intends to develop a trusted research environment to advance the secure management and analysis of health data, including gene therapy and clinical trials.
- Enhanced U.S.-U.A.E. bilateral partnership in ventures such as the Joint Statement of Intent to fast-track patent grants in the U.A.E., a five-year partnership, to streamline the patent process, boost innovation, and solidify the U.A.E.’s position as a regional IP hub by offering flexible, efficient services for innovators and businesses.
- Leveraging the U.A.E.’s regulatory framework that promotes fast-paced growth and eases market access for U.S. companies entering the U.A.E. healthcare and life sciences ecosystem.
